Is an out-of-state fishing license valid in Florida?

In accordance with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, out-of-state fishing licenses are not valid in the Sunshine State. Out-of-state residents 16 years of age or older must purchase a visitor license before attempting to take any fish from fresh or salt water.

Florida residents are defined as those who have declared Florida as their only state of residence, evidenced by a Florida Driver's License or State ID Card or anyone in the Armed Forces stationed in Florida and his or her spouse and children. Separate licenses are needed for fishing fresh and salt waters, and annual fishing licenses expire exactly one year from the date issued.
