The Estes Express Lines trucking company is owned by the Estes family, and Robey W. Estes, Jr., serves as the president and CEO of the company. Robey Estes is the grandson of the company's founder, W.W. Estes.

Founded in 1931, the company initially served southern Virginia, but grew to serve North Carolina, South Carolina and all of Virginia by the time of W.W. Estes's death in 1971. In 2005, the company added coverage to the West Coast of the country. In 2008, it added the upper Midwest, making it a national presence. The company ships globally through its subsidiary, Estes Forwarding Worldwide LLC.
