Who owns the Lakers?

The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team is owned by the Jerry Buss family trust, as of 2015. The beneficiaries of the trust are the children of late owner Jerry Buss.

Jerry Buss died of cancer in 2013 and left the team in trust for his six children. Two of his children take an active role in running the team. Jerry Buss' son Jim Buss runs all team operations with the Lakers' general manager, Mitch Kupchak. The deceased owner's daughter Jeannie Buss has been the individual primarily responsible for the team's business matters for years, and she continued in that role after her father's passing.
