Wawa, Inc. is a privately held company that is owned by Wild Goose Holding Company, Inc. Many private shareholders across several corporations are owners and take part in its profits and losses.
The company has a history that goes back more than 200 years, surprisingly beginning as an iron foundry. The owner at the beginning of the 20th century, George Woods, became interested in dairy and subsequently opened a dairy-processing plant. In the 1960s, Wawa the convenience store was conceived; the first store that was opened offered dairy products. More locations quickly followed, and the company grew into a chain of convenience stores.
