The Krebs cycle produces the most NADH during cellular respiration. It generates three molecules of NADH for every one molecule of acetyl CoA that enters the cycle.
The Krebs cycle occurs in all aerobic organisms during the process of cellular respiration. It takes place in the mitochondria of the cell and consists of eight steps. During the process, carbon dioxide is produced through the oxidation of acetyl CoA. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is reduced to NADH in the process. NADH is then responsible for the electron transport in the mitochondria. It is in the electron transport process that most of the adenosine triphosphate (ATP, or energy currency of the cell) is produced.
