Who is the patron's saint of hope?

The patron saint of hope, or of lost causes, according to Catholic theology is St. Jude Thaddeus, one of the 12 disciples of Jesus. He is called the patron saint of hope due to the fact that in his epistle he urges believers to endure harsh and desperate circumstances.

St. Jude Thaddeus is said to be the author of the book of St. Jude. As a pious adherent to the teachings of Jesus, he was martyred in Beirut in A.D. 65 alongside a fellow apostle known as Simon the Zealot. Believers, especially those of the Catholic faith, pray that he may intercede for them when they are faced with hopeless situations.
