Who is the patron saint of horses?

In the Catholic tradition, the patron saint of horses is St. Martin of Tours. Also the patron saint of soldiers, St. Martin left behind a promising position in the army to serve God.

After being forced into the army at the age of 15, St. Martin became renowned for conducting himself more like a monk than a warrior. He left as a conscientious objector at the age of 23 and established a monastery near Poitiers, which is thought to be the first monastery in France. Subsequently, he began amassing a group of disciples and preaching in the countryside. By the time of his beatification, St. Martin was famed for fighting paganism while also begging mercy for heretics.
