To do a pedicure, trim and file the toenails, soak and exfoliate the feet, apply nail polish, and dry the toenails. This 45-minute process requires nail clippers, a buffing block, a pedicure file, water, oil, an orange stick, cotton balls, nail polish remover, lotion, toe separators and nail polish.
- Trim and file the toenails
Trim the toenails with clippers, and shape the ends with a buffing block. Move the block from side to side across the surface and ends of the nails.
- Soak the feet
Add several drops of bath oil to a tub of warm water, and soak the feet for 10 minutes.
- Exfoliate the feet
File away rough, dry skin on the heels and balls of the feet.
- Moisturize the feet and cuticles
Spread moisturizer on the feet and cuticles, then push the cuticles back with an orange stick. Keep lotion off of the toenails.
- Clean and polish the toenails
Separate the toes with foam separators. Clean the toenails with a cotton ball dipped in nail polish remover. Apply a base coat, two coats of polish and a clear topcoat. After applying the products to the surface of the toenails, pull the brush along the tips of the nails to prevent chipping.
- Dry the toenails
Dry your toenails for at least 20 minutes before touching them or putting on shoes.
