The PEO Sisterhood is a U.S.-based organization that promotes and funds education for women. The group has helped fund the education of more than 90,000 women internationally since its founding in 1869 through the awarding of loans, educational grants and special projects.

The PEO Sisterhood has also owned and supported Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri since 1927. Since the organization's inception, it has awarded over $142 million through the Educational Loan Fund; $43 million in grants via the Program for Continuing Education; $29 million in International Peace Scholarships; and Scholar Awards in excess of $16 million. College funding recipients are not required to maintain membership in the PEO Sisterhood. PEO chapters sponsor domestic recipients.
