Why do people get bedbugs?

There are a variety of ways to cause a bedbug infestation in your home, or on your person, including staying in a hotel with bedbugs, buying used clothing and not washing it first, or by bringing in a piece of used furniture. Bedbugs hide easily due to their oval, flat bodies so it can be difficult to spot them. They may hide in people's headboards, mattresses, box springs or bed frames, where they can easily access people to bit.

Bedbugs can easily travel from one apartment to the next, through cracks in ceilings and floors. They mainly bite people when they are sleeping, and can cause very itchy red welts all over people's bodies.
