Do people in Iran have Internet access?
By Forinfos - 24/04/2025 - 0 comments
People in Iran do have access to the Internet. Of the 77 million people in Iran, 25.2 million people use the Internet. The country has over 150 Internet providers.
Although Iran has many Internet providers, none of them are completely independent of the government. The people of Iran cannot participate in websites and social media such as Facebook and Twitter because over half of the world's most popular Internet sites are banned in Iran. While most of the blocked sites are pornographic, pages linked to art, society and news are also banned. Because of the amount of sites banned and slow Internet speed, Internet access exists in Iran but is not as accessible as it is in the United States.
