The highest possible ACT score is a 36. The ACT is a standardized achievement test used for college admissions. The ACT measures high school students' general educational development and their capabilities in completing college-level work.
The ACT exam historically consists of four multiple-choice tests on the subjects of English, mathematics, reading and science reasoning. Each subject test score ranges from 1 to 36. The English, mathematics and reading tests also have sub-scores of 1 to 18. The composite score is the average of all four tests. In addition, there is an optional writing portion of the test that is scored from 2 to 12. The writing score does not affect the composite score.
