By Forinfos - 23/02/2026 - 0 comments

The Congo tetra is an African freshwater fish commonly kept in household aquariums. Its natural habitat is the Congo River Basin, and it is considered one of the most beautiful tetra species because of its iridescent, rainbow hue.

Congo tetras are a community fish, meaning they prefer to live in schools of three or more. They are small, reaching a maximum length of approximately 2 inches. Congo tetras are omnivorous fish and prefer lower light levels in their habitat. They reproduce through egg laying. Males must be separated from females after breeding to prevent the males from eating the eggs.
