What do sow bugs eat?
By Forinfos - 04/09/2025 - 0 comments
Typically, sowbugs are omnivores and eat a variety of organisms, such as algae, fungus, moss and bark. They are also scavengers, feeding on dead plants and animals that are in the process of decaying.
To avoid becoming food themselves, sowbugs are able to roll up into a protective ball. They secrete chemicals to ward away predators. In addition, they are nocturnal and, therefore, avoid daytime predators. In the wild, sowbugs usually live two to three years.
Sowbugs are typically found in areas of high humidity, such as beneath rocks or logs, in piles of leaves or in cracks of rocks. They stay away from areas that are well-lit or dry.
