An Ethernet adapter is a DSL filter designed for houses using DSL Internet over pre-existing phone lines. It can also be devices designed to use for Voice over Internet Provider (VoIP) to connect phone devices to the Internet.
A DSL filter is an adapter commonly handed out by data network providers that offer DSL services as their primary access to the Internet, such as Verizon and AT&T. They can have varying configurations depending on the service, but they are designed primarily for DSL usage. VoIP devices do the reverse. They essentially convert your voice data into common Internet traffic data and use computer connections to route calls.
