PHR certification refers to Professional in Human Resources certification. This certification is awarded by the HR Certification Institute and shows that someone has expert-level knowledge in the human resources field.
A PHR certification is second only to the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification as the most senior certification that a human resources professional can obtain. To obtain a PHR, an individual must first have the necessary education and experience in a professional human resources environment. Applicants must then sit for the PHR exam and obtain a passing score before the certification is granted. Exams are given twice per year.
