In this solar system, Mercury and Venus do not have moons. The other six planets host a total of 146 confirmed moons and 27 provisional moons as of 2014.
Of the planets that do have moons, Earth has one, Mars has two, Jupiter has 50, Saturn has 53, Uranus has 27 and Neptune has 13. Of the provisional moons, 17 belong to Jupiter, nine belong to Saturn and one belongs to Neptune. The largest moon in the solar system, Ganymede, orbits Jupiter, while the second-largest, Titan, orbits Saturn. Scientists predict that the Martian moon Phobos may crash into Mars in 40 to 50 million years, leaving it with one moon.
