Do plants have organs?

Vascular plants, or tracheophytes, have two organ systems: the root system and the shoot system. Non-vascular plants, bryophytes and algae, do not have organ systems.

The shoot system consists of all above-ground structures, including leaves, flowers, fruits and stems. The function of the above-ground structures are reproduction, carried out by the flowers and fruits, and photosynthesis, which occurs in the stems and leaves. The other organ, the root system, consists of below-ground structures known as roots, whose primary functions are anchorage of the plant in the soil and uptake of water and nutrients.
