Astra 28.2°E is the name for the collection of Astra communications satellites co-located at the 28.2° East position in the Clarke Belt that are maintained and controlled by the Société Européenne des Satellites, based in Betzdorf, Luxembourg. It is one of the chief television satellite positions serving Europe.
This location was the second orbital position used by SES, after Astra 19.2°E, and the first to provide only digital channels. The first spacecraft to occupy this location was Astra 1D, which was relocated from Astra 19.2°E in March 1998 to provide capacity for examining UK digital television broadcasts before the inception of Sky Digital.
