Advil is a brand of ibuprofen, a pain medication that the company's website says is not addictive. Ibuprofen isn't habit forming and doesn't appear to have addictive properties. Unlike narcotic pain medications, it impacts the body without affecting the brain.
In general, the risk of someone getting addicted to any type of pain medication is very low when the person only takes it appropriately to combat pain, according to Mayo Clinic. Ibuprofen also doesn't cause withdrawal symptoms, another key indicator of addiction, according to Advil. The medication does have recommended doses, and following the directions reduces any potential of side effects, such as trouble communicating or sleeping.
