Xi Jinping is the President of the People's Republic of China. He began his term in office on November 15, 2012, and he has called for a new flowering of Chinese power and culture called the "Chinese Dream."

Though the position of president is primarily ceremonial, Xi Jiping is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and the Chairman of the Central Military Commission. These two positions give him an immense amount of power. Taiwan considers itself to be the "Republic of China," so the President of the Republic of China is, according to many Taiwanese, the rightful president of China. The current holder of that position is Ma Ying-jeou.
