Anyone who is over the age of 65, is blind or disabled, and has limited income and resources qualifies for SSI. These individuals must be citizens of the United States.
The Supplemental Security Income program is a federally-funded program in place for individuals who are disabled, aged or blind and have little to no income. This program provides cash to meet the individuals basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. The Social Security website has a benefit eligibility tool that allows individuals to input some basic financial information to calculate the estimated amount they may be eligible to receive in SSI benefits.
