What quarterback did Tom Brady replace?

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady replaced the team's starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe during the 2001 NFL season. Bledsoe suffered an injury in a game against the New York Jets, after which Brady took over. He then finished out the season as quarterback, leading the Patriots to their first Super Bowl victory.

Tom Brady won a total of three Super Bowls, as quarterback for the Patriots. These occurred at the end of the 2001, 2003 and 2004 seasons. He also lost two others in 2007 and 2011. Brady was the MVP of the Super Bowl in 2001 and 2003, the Associated Press MVP of the NFL in 2007 and 2010 and the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year in 2009.
