Is there a recall on GE dishwashers?

There is a recall on GE Adora, GE Eterna, GE Profile and Hotpoint Dishwashers as of August 9, 2012. The recall is due to a fire hazard that may be caused by electrical failure in the dishwasher's heating element.

Consumers should stop using the recalled products immediately and disconnect the power supply, unless otherwise instructed. The recalled dishwashers were sold between March 2006 and August 2009 at a variety of retailers nationwide. For free in-home repair or to receive a rebate from GE, owners of these dishwashers should contact GE at (866) 918-8760 or at GEAppliances.com/Recall. Consumers should not return their dishwasher to the retailer where purchased.
