Unsightly coffee stains can ruin the appearance of a stainless steel sink. Fortunately, coffee stains can be removed with this simple, 10-minute process. Make sure to have vinegar, soap, and a soft cloth or scrubbing brush available.
Clean with soap and water
Fill the sink with hot water and a few drops of dish soap. Let the water soak for several minutes and then lightly scrub the sink with a soft cloth. This removes any dried food or dirt that may scratch the surface of the sink during the cleaning process. After scrubbing, drain the soapy water completely.
Create a cleaning solution
Fill the sink one-quarter full of water and pour in a small amount of vinegar. Gently scrub the stained area with a cloth or soft scrub brush. Never use steel wool on a stainless steel sink, as this damages the surface and causes discoloration.
Use a cleansing powder
If stubborn coffee stains remain, sprinkle a cleansing powder such as Comet onto the stained area and scrub in the direction of the grain with a soft scrub brush.
Rinse and dry the sink
Rinse the sink thoroughly with running water and dry it with a soft, clean cloth. Make sure the sink is free of water drops which can cause rust spots over time.
