How do you renew a Philippine passport?

To renew a passport, Filipino citizens in the United States must appear in person at the Embassy of the Philippines in Washington, D.C. Each applicant must be fingerprinted and have a picture taken. Applicants must also sign documents on-site. Appointments are not necessary.

Before renewing a passport, download the Passport Application Form from PhilippineEmbassy-USA.org, and complete it. Bring the form to the Embassy along with the current passport, a photocopy of Page 1 of the green passport or Pages 1 to 3 of the brown passport, whichever is applicable. Also bring proof, such as a green card, that you have not applied for foreign citizenship. If you have a brown passport, provide a photocopy of a legal document or ID with the middle name spelled out, such as a birth certificate, baptismal certificate or driver's license.

A pre-paid, self-addressed, stamped envelope with tracking numbers from U.S. Express or Priority mail is required to mail the passport to the applicant. The passport service fee is $60, made payable by cashier's check, money order, cash, bank draft or certified check. Passports take eight to 12 weeks to process, so the Embassy of the Philippines recommends applying for a new passport six months before the current passport expires. Applications are processed electronically and sent to Manila, Philippines, for printing and issuing by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
