To repair a concrete pool, expose the damaged area and apply pool patching material. The patch should remain damp until it has set. Most repairs can be completed in a few hours.
- Prepare the damaged area for repair
If necessary, drain the water to expose the damaged area. Use a grinder to expand the cracked area to 1/2 inch in diameter, and remove an additional 1 inch on each end of the crack. Apply caulk 1/4 inch inside the cracked area, and allow it to dry completely.
- Apply pool patch
Purchase a product that is specifically designed to patch concrete pools, and dampen the cracked area with water. Apply the repair compound with a trowel by pressing the material into the crack. Smooth the exterior of the patched area, and use a sponge or another tool to create a surface on the patch that matches the existing pool finish. If pool patching material isn't available, a mixture of Portland cement, acrylic bonding epoxy and sand can be used.
- Cover the patched area with water
Fill the pool with water to cover the patched area, or cover the patched area with a wet cloth until it sets for the recommended amount of time.
