Connect the iPod to your computer, and restore your device using the Restore option in iTunes. You need to install the latest iPod and iTunes software versions to begin.
- Download the latest software
Make sure you have an Internet connection, and check if your iPod or iTunes software requires an update. Download the latest versions if necessary.
- Open iTunes
Click the iTunes icon on your Mac dock. If you use Windows, double-click the iTunes icon to launch the program. You can also locate iTunes within the All Programs menu in Windows 8 and Windows 7.
- Connect the iPod
Plug one end of the syncing cable into the iPod and the other end into a USB port on your computer. You can use a FireWire cable if you do not have a USB cable. Wait a few moments for iTunes to recognize and list your device.
- Select your device
Select your iPod in the iTunes Source panel. Review your device's information in the Summary tab.
- Restore the iPod
Click the Restore button, and enter your administrator name and password if necessary. A progress bar on the screen indicates each stage of the restore process. Do not disconnect the iPod until you see the iTunes Setup Assistant. Follow the on-screen prompts to choose your syncing preferences.
