By Forinfos - 21/04/2026 - 0 comments
The Rhine river crosses the borders of Switzerland, Austria, the principality of Liechtenstein, France, Germany and the Netherlands. With a length of approximately 766 miles, it is considered one of Europe's most important rivers in terms of transporting raw materials and providing a home for native species. It is widest at its locale in Germany, where it is a common route for ships.
The Rhine River begins in the Swiss Alps of Switzerland and ends in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where it ultimately flows into the North Sea. Germany refers to the Rhine as "Rhein," France knows it as simply "the Rhin" and the Netherlands call it the "Rijn."
