Do rhinos eat meat?

Rhinos are herbivores and do not eat meat. Their diets vary according to their habitats and species. Some are grazers, eating such vegetation as grass, while others search a little higher and eat from trees or bushes.

The square lips of the white rhino, for instance, are good for grazing, while the hook-shaped lip of the black rhino is conducive to plucking twigs and branches. The Indian rhino lives in the wetlands and eats aquatic plants. Sumatran rhinos are not at all fussy eaters and tend to consume whatever is available to them, while the Javan rhino eats primarily off the ground whether it be new grass or fruits that have fallen.
