Metal roofs are common for bay windows. In snowy and agricultural regions, bay windows typically have sheet copper roofs that are soldered at the seams. Alternatively, a soft curved roof is appropriate for a box bay window that is attached to the first floor of a home.
Bay windows are an architectural feature used to open a room to natural light. In modern design, bay windows have flat roofs. In Victorian and Italianate architecture, two-story bay windows have a gable roof. For a traditional Spanish stucco home, the bay window roof is low tiled with little overhang. A hip roof, which is shaped like a pyramid, is suitable for use with brick and craftsman constructed windows.
