Is RootX available at hardware stores?

As of June 2015, RootX is available only from plumbing professionals, according to the company. Sellers must be authorized RootX dealers. The company has a dealer locator search page on its website.

RootX controls the growth of roots in residential and municipal sewer lines, storm pipes and septic systems. Though RootX recommends using the cleanout pipe for treatment, plumbers are also able to use the chemical in toilets.

RootX contains Dichlobenil, an aquatic herbicide. As soon as it touches roots, they die. Over time, the roots decay and clear out of pipes during normal flow. However, when pipes are significantly blocked by roots, plumbers should cut out obstructions and then use RootX.
