What is the scientific name of the fortune plant?
By Forinfos - 15/05/2026 - 0 comments
Dracaena sanderiana and Dracaena braunii are both scientific names for the fortune plant, which is also called lucky bamboo. Though fortune plants look similar to bamboo, the only true bamboos are in the genus Bambusoideae.
The fortune plant is also commonly called ribbon dracaena, Chinese water bamboo, Belgian evergreen, ribbon plant, friendship bamboo, Sander's dracaena, Goddess of Mercy and curly bamboo. While true bamboos rival trees in height, the fortune plant grows to only 3 to 5 feet tall, making it a popular houseplant. Fortune plants require little care and grow in soil, sand or water. They are often placed in water or fine gravel for decorative displays.
