The scientific name for man is Homo sapiens. This species of living human beings evolved around 200,000 years ago in Africa and is present on Earth today. Every living human on Earth is part of the Homo sapiens species.
Homo sapiens evolved during a time of intense climate change. During their evolution, they gathered and hunted all of their food and used tools. Their behaviors also evolved to help them adapt to severe climate changes and the intense environment in which they lived. Anatomically, Homo sapiens have lighter skeletons than any earlier species of humans. They also have larger brains and different skull structures than earlier humans.
