Willow trees form a large portion of the genus Salix. The most common willow trees include the black willow (Salix negra), white willow (S. alba) and weeping willow (S. babylonica).
According to the Ohio Public Library Information Network, the black willow is one of the largest willows that grow in North America and can be found mainly in Ohio, where the wood is used for making charcoal and boxes. The white willow has a characteristic gray-brown bark color and is commonly used for fuel and fence posts. The weeping willow is native to China and is characterized by its long, drooping branches, hence the name "weeping."
