The album won the 1994 Grammy Award for Album of the year and is also one of the best-selling albums in the United States. The executive producers of the album were Clive Davis, Whitney Houston, Jazz Summers and Tim Parry.

The movie "The BodyGuard" was a 1992 romantic thriller about a former secret agent played by Kevin Costner hired to protect Whitney Houston from a stalker. The movie was the second highest grossing movie of 1992.
