Shekels are made of a nickel alloy and increase in size as they increase in value. There are four shekel coins in Israeli currency: the 1-shekel, 2-shekel, 5-shekel and 10-shekel coins.
As of 2014, the 1-shekel coin has an ancient script inscribed on it, as well as wheat. The 2-shekel coin has grapes, a pomegranate and sheaves of wheat on its back side. The 5-shekel coin is 12-sided with two images on one side, a small menorah at the top and a larger image at the bottom. The 10-shekel coin has what appears to be an olive tree on the back of it.
