The Shelby Cobra produced by Carroll Shelby during the 1960s is a small two-seat roadster with a sleek, rounded style, low ride height and a distinctive large, open oval front grille. A small roll hoop behind the driver and large exhaust pipes under the doors are also distinctive features.

The Shelby Cobra is properly known as the Shelby AC Cobra as it is based on the English AC Ace roadster. The Cobra possesses several modifications to improve its performance over the original Ace, most importantly the installation of a Ford V-8 in place of the original straight-6 engine. Mark I Cobras received either a 260 or 289 cubic-inch engine, while the Mark II was built with the 289 engine only and the Mark III had the option of either the 289 or a 427 cubic-inch engine
