What is a shih tzu/pug mix?

A shih tzu/pug mix is a dog that is a cross-breed of a shih tzu and a pug. This combination also is referred to as a pug-zu. These dogs vary greatly in appearance, but are generally small with short-to-medium coats that are fawn, black or white in color.

Since both the shih tzu and pug are known to be affectionate lapdogs, pug-zu dogs are typically friendly and trusting. Both breeds are in the "toy" category of the American Kennel Club; pug-zu dogs only weigh 10 to 20 pounds. These breeds also are known to be lazy, however, and need to be pushed to exercise to avoid weight problems.
