By Forinfos - 03/04/2025 - 0 comments
Increased intake of vitamin D is recommended in cases of vitamin D deficiency, according to WebMD. Deficiency of vitamin D occurs in people who avoid sunlight and have dark skin or in people who do not consume enough vitamin D, such as those following a strict vegan diet.
WebMD further adds that food sources of vitamin D include fish, egg yolks, fish liver oils and fortified dairy and grain products. Symptoms of vitamin D deficiency include bone pain and muscle weakness; however, these symptoms may be subtle for many patients. Associated health risks include cognitive impairment in the elderly, increased risk of death from heart conditions, cancer and severe asthma in children.
