The amount of vitamin E a person should take depends on age, according to WebMD. For example, males and females 14 years and older should take 15 milligrams a day, although breastfeeding women should take 19 milligrams.
Children 1 to 3 years old should take 6 milligrams daily. Children 4 to 8 should take 7 milligrams, and those 9 to 13 are recommended to take 11 milligrams. The recommendations are based on vitamin E intake from both food and supplements. Deficiencies are unusual except if a person has digestive issues or a disease like cystic fibrosis. People 19 years and older should take no more than 1 gram a day, according to WebMD.
