When should you wean puppies?

Puppies can begin to be weaned off nursing and onto solid food by around three to four weeks of age. Weaning should be complete by seven to eight weeks of age. Weaning should be a slow and gradual process of reducing a puppy's dependence on milk.
At birth, puppies are completely helpless and relatively unaware of their environment. They are completely dependent on their mother for several weeks. For the first two weeks of life, they sleep, eat and crawl. During the third week of life, they become able to see and hear. By the end of the third week, they can usually walk. Puppies' teeth are usually all in place by five to six weeks.
