If the mouth sores are underneath the dentures, patients should not use dentures until the sores heal, explains the American Cancer Society. If sores are not under the dentures, patients may wear dentures normally.
It is important to properly clean dentures when a person has mouth sores, claims the American Cancer Society. Individuals need to clean dentures between use, and store them in an antibacterial solution when not in use. To help speed the healing of mouth sores, rinse the mouth with a solution of 1 teaspoon baking soda and 2 cups water, and then spit it out. Alternatively, use a solution made of 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1 quart water.
