What is the size of rugby posts?

The posts on a rugby field vary in height and are placed 18.4 feet apart. The top of the crossbar connecting the two posts rests 9.8 feet above the playing field below. The bottom of each vertical post is padded to protect players from injury.
In rugby league play, successful conversion kicks, where the ball clears the crossbar between the posts, are awarded two points, while penalty kicks and drop goals are each worth three. In union play, conversion and penalty kicks are each worth two points, and one point is awarded for drop goals.
Unlike American football, the posts are placed at the scoring line, which is known as the try line, and within the field of play rather than at the end line.
