Vatican City is the smallest country in the world, at just 0.2 square miles. The country lies entirely within the capital of Rome in southern Italy. It is home to roughly 800 residents.

The largest church in the world, St. Peter's Basilica is home to some of the most significant art works of the Renaissance. Voluntary contributions from the more than 1 billion worldwide members of the Church generate much of Vatican City's income; the remainder comes from the museum admission fees and the sales of postage stamps and tourist mementos.
