Sonogram technicians can specialize in a specific area of the body, such as the abdominal region or the breast area. Other sonogram technicians may specialize in the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system or the female reproductive system. Further specialties in the sonogram technology field include cardiovascular technologists and vascular sonographers. Typically, individuals interested in becoming a sonogram technician must obtain a degree in the field. However, certain individuals in the medical field may obtain a certificate in place of a degree.
