All slide-in stoves and most freestanding stoves are designed to fit a standard opening that is 30 inches wide, as of 2015. The standard height is 36 inches tall, and most stoves are about 24 inches deep, which is the same depth as standard kitchen cabinets.

Freestanding stoves also are available in widths ranging from 20 to 40 inches. Professional, high-end stoves are available in widths up to 60 inches. Freestanding ranges include rear panels that are up to 6 inches tall. Slide-in stoves have controls on the front, and they don't include back panels, allowing them to fit in an island or in front of a decorative backsplash.
