A star code is a ten-character combination of letters and numbers that, together with a doll code, are needed to register or enroll in Innerstar University. Successful registration unlocks full access to Innerstar University and makes all features of the game available.

Innerstar University is a virtual online world in the My American Girl doll game. The Campus Guide that comes with every My American Girl Doll contains both codes. They serve the same function as a serial number or proof-of-purchase code that allows access to a website or enables software activation.The star code is unique to the doll purchased and may not be used more than once or with other dolls.
