Starburst candy does not contain pork meat. However, it does contain gelatin. Gelatin is a derivative of bones, skin, tendons and ligaments from cows and pigs.
Gelatin is used as a thickening agent in a wide range of products including shampoos and puddings. The FDA requires food manufacturers to list ingredients by weight on labels. Gelatin is the fourth ingredient on the Starburst candy label. Corn syrup, sugar and apple juice are the first three ingredients.
The recommended serving size of Starburst candies is 9 pieces. A serving of the candies contains 130 calories from 31 grams of carbohydrates and 2 grams of protein as well as 40 milligrams of sodium.
