What is the status of the Oak Island treasure?

As of 2014, no one has located treasure at Oak Island. The Oak Island Treasure Act, enacted in 2010, discourages potential treasure seekers from continuing the search for supposedly hidden treasure.

Treasure hunters have searched for buried treasure on Oak Island since 1795. Several people have tried to dig deep enough to discover what lies beneath the island. However, each attempt has failed due to flooding shafts and tragedy. Thus far, six individuals have died trying to find the treasure, leading many to believe that there is a curse on Oak Island and that seven people must die before the treasure emerges. Some theories suggest that the treasure is either Captain Kidd’s gold, Sir Francis Bacon’s plays or the Holy Grail.
